The 'Melbourne Model'

Iven Mareels, Dean of Engineering at Melbourne University, recently announced changes to the program of engineering study at the university.

According to Mareels, the University of Melbourne has led engineering education since establishing Australia’s first School of Engineering in 1862 and that over the years, the School has refined its degrees regularly, to keep pace with developments in the profession and economy globally.

In order to strengthen the engineering education at Melbourne University, a number of changes to the engineering program have been announced, which will take effect from Semester 1, 2010.  These changes include a shift to the 'Melbourne Model' and are detailed on the university's website.
